ERW Pipes

ERW Pipes

Electrical Resistance Welding pipes are producedby cold forming of steel coil into a round cylindrical shape. In the initial time, it was done with the low-frequency A.C. current to heat the edges. The low-frequency process has changed to high-frequency A.C. current to produce a higher quality weld.

ERW pipe hasseveral applications like fencing, line pipe, scaffolding, etc. ERW steel pipes are available in various diameters, wall thickness, finish, and grades. It is used to transport natural gas, oil and other vapor-liquid objects, and can meet various requirements of high pressure and low pressure.

During the ERW pipe welding, heat is generated when current flows through the content surface of the welding area. It heats the two edges of the steel to the point where one edge can form a bond. At the same time, under the action of the combined pressure, the edges of the tube blank melt and squeeze together.

Types of ERW Pipes

MS ERW Pipes

MS Pipe or MS tube refers to Mild Steel Pipe or a Mild Steel Tube. MS ERW Pipes is 1239 and 4923 is employed for fluid transmission, general and mechanical engineering, fire protection, fencing and in water sewage, water wells, etc. Our pipe includes different production standards that guarantee its durability in every view.Mild steel has been utilized to make caliber pipe that is available in different thicknesses, sizes and diameters.

SS ERW Pipes

Stainless Steel ERW Pipe is made up of different stainless steel materials and is produced through a procedure known as the electrical resistance weld. The pipes are welded using an electric resistance and from sheets, plates, or strips by welding their end together. Different specifications cover the various service types of the pipes such as the ANSI B36. 19 Welded stainless steel pipes.

FAQ Questions

What is ERW Pipe?

ERW steel pipes are manufactured by low-frequency or high-frequency resistance. They are round pipes welded from steel plates with longitudinal welds. An ERW or electric resistance welded pipe is welded with the help of coils and strips of steel. These pipes can be availed in lengths up to 24 OD and are very durable. An electric-welded pipe has one longitudinal seam formed by electric-induction or electric-resistance welding without the addition of filler metal.

The edges to be weld seam is pressed together mechanically, and the heat for welding is generated by the resistance to the flow of electric current. The welded seam of electric weld pipe (ERW) is heat-treated after welding to a minimum temperature of 1,000°F or processed so that no un-tempered martensite remains. It is used to transport oil, natural gas and other vapor-liquid objects, and can meet various requirements of high and low pressure.

What is difference between ERW and seamless pipe?

The difference between Seamless and ERW pipe is that a seamless pipe is produced without the help of welds or seams whereas ERW pipes are manufactured by welding pieces of steel longitudinally. Seamless pipes can last for a long period, but they are expensive compared to the ERW Pipes.

The ERW pipe has always shadowed by the fact that experts in the past stated that they are weaker pipes in comparison to seamless pipes. They are cold rolled after the hot rolling procedures giving the ERW pipe superior corrosion and oxidation resistance properties.

Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) pipe is manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally across its length. Seamless pipe is manufactured by extruding the metal to the desired length; therefore ERW pipe have a welded joint in its cross-section, while seamless pipe does not have any joint in its cross-section through-out its length.

Where ERW pipes are used?

Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipes and tubes are an important component of buildings and infrastructure. ERW pipes can be of different in sizes and are applicable in many industries due to their versatile nature. They have several applications across a wide range of industries from infrastructure construction such as airports and railway stations to refinery plants to the automobile industry.

ERW Pipes are being used in agricultural implements, solar tracking systems, gym equipment and construction equipment. They are being used as a replacement of wood in roofing structures.Their ease of application and the diversity in their sizes makes them suitable for use in prefabricated structures such as sheds warehouses. In automobile manufacturing, they are used in truck and body bodies and heavy vehicle axles.
